Bewegende bedrukking!

Een Amerikaans bedrijf, Digital View, heeft een techniek ontwikkeld waarbij met een speciaal bedrukt paneel en door te spelen met licht er een bewegende displays ontstaan. En het schijnt een jaar op twee AA batterijen te werken. Op hun site staan enkele voorbeelden. Creatief toegepast kan het erg leuk en ook effectief zijn.

Activ Print bridges the gap between printed graphics and digital signage displays. The technology animates the images on e-paper and incorporates it into a programmable display.
More dynamic than plain signage but less expensive than video production,

ActivPrint uses black (negatively charged) and white (positively charged) pigment microcapsules. When an electric current runs through it – which different colour microcapsules are brought to the surface, can be controlled by positive or negative current.
This has the effect of ‘turning on’ and revealing the image – or with black, turning the image off and hiding it.
This low power process allows ActivPrint to have a standard lifetime of upto 1 year with standard AA batteries.

Up to 10 animation steps are possible. A display for wristwatches or shoes, for example, could sequentially reveal photos of the different styles available, or a sentence could be revealed one word at a time.
